We’ve taken a look at the top five highest-grossing movies based on a number of factors including how many times they were watched and which character was portrayed in them. These stats are from 2016 and show us exactly what we can expect to see when it comes to Disney movie popularity.
We’ll start by looking at the overall grosses of the films in the last year. The film with the best performing title is Moana, followed closely by Frozen 2 and Cinderella. These three titles all rank above $200 million globally.
Moana is the only film that doesn’t feature any male lead characters in the cast. However, despite this fact, she still ranks highly. On average, Moana makes over a billion dollars worldwide, which puts her ahead of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Other interesting movie info – Snow White was Walt’s first major motion picture after only doing shorts and he spent a whopping 1.5 million to produce it. He worried it would either make him or break him, but it all turned out great in the end and as we now know, it was a huge success.

2. Cinderella (1950)
